A few years ago I made a website based on a game I played as a kid. You might know it as The Exquisite Corpse or maybe picture consequences, or that game where you draw a figure between 4 people without seeing what’s been drawn before. Usually ending up with a weird felt-tip-chimera type thing. It was actually popularised by the surrealists because they were interested in creativity somehow springing from nowhere.

The original site┬ádied a sudden and violent death when my old agency didn’t renew the domain name. It now hosts a sad array of search optimisation links. Sad.

So I’ve been hard at work recreating it as an iPhone version which means recoding the whole thing from the ground up. It’s been a fun but also quite testing. What seemed a simple task to begin with was actually a lot harder to do properly. To make an app rather than a website needs a whole host of new features – push notifications to tell you new drawings are finished for example, touch controls, user profiles. Push notifications for one are an absolute bugger to figure out and set up the first time you try.

But I’m glad I pushed through the first version is now alive: Please give it a try at drawx4.com
